Valmark's printed and die-cut shielding products are used by a wide variety of manufacturers to minimize electromagnetic and radio frequency interference (EMI/RFI) and the effects of electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS/EMD) in electrical or electronic systems. Our CAD-linked laser cutting system produces relatively inexpensive prototypes for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing prior to hard tooling and emission regulation testing.
Valmark's shielding products are useful and cost-effective for:
Suppression - Reducing the interference at its source.
Isolation - isolating offending circuits by filtering, grounding and shielding.
Desensitizing - Increasing the immunity of any susceptible circuits.
DESIGN AND ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE
Our experience is valuable in every step from design to production part manufacturing. Valmark can offer expert assistance in the selection of materials and construction techniques for a wide range of EMC needs, taking into account requirements for attenuation, galvanic compatibility, weight and size restrictions, as well as cost and delivery parameters.
INNOVATIVE PROCESSES AND MATERIALS
Valmark's ongoing research program into materials, processes and overall product quality assures you of the best operating capabilities with the least performance degradation. When we are involved in the early steps of design, new materials or processes can often be incorporated as they are developed without the expense of future re-tooling.
CAD-GENERATED PROTOTYPE TESTING
Valmark can accept CAD design programs (via disk or e-mail) using DXF files compatible with AutoCAD 2000 . We can construct laser cut prototypes on a quick turnaround basis for EMC testing prior to emission regulation testing. Our lead times are often less than 24 hours for uncomplicated designs that do not require special materials or tooling (embossing or forming tools). One advantage to this service is it allows you to modify and test a design for product improvement prior to tooling up for mass production. Once approved, the same CAD information can be electronically downloaded for steel rule die manufacture.
Some of the materials Valmark uses in manufacturing of EMC components are:
- Copper Foils
- Aluminum Foils
- Grained Oriented Steel Foils (Permalloy 80, Mu Metal, Alloy 48)
- Electrically Conductive Formed Contacts
- Film Laminates (Polycarbonate, Polyester, Polyimide)
- Conductive Foams
- Conductive Adhesives
- Electrical and Shielding Tapes
- Woven Metallized Fabrics
- Metallized Polyesters
- Screenable Dielectric Coatings
- Transfer Adhesives and Foam Tapes
Valmark can custom fabricate shielding products to your specifications using one or more of the following manufacturing processes:
- Laminating of many film and foil constructions
- Laminating of adhesives
- Screen printing of dielectric coatings
- Laser cutting
- Die-cutting, using steel rule, rotary or flat engraved dies
- Embossing and creasing
- Folding and forming
- Application of additional components, such as beryllium copper springs, diet
- and formed dielectric components, and a wide variety of plastics, such as
- polycarbonates, polyester, and polyimide.
